A longtime North Carolina manufacturer plans to expand its Greenville facility by more than 56,000 square feet and create at least 10 new jobs.
Edgecombe Furniture, a manufacturer of high-quality commercial furnishings, announces plans for a nearly $4 million expansion of its Greenville-Pitt County facility.
The expansion will add 56,260 square feet of state-of-the-art operational space and create at least 10 new jobs, further strengthening the company's presence in Pitt County. Edgecombe Furniture has operated in North Carolina for nearly a century and established its Pitt County operations in 2017 with the purchase of a 140,000-square-foot facility.
Specializing in custom furnishings for the hospitality industry, Edgecombe Furniture is an approved vendor for major hotel brands, including Hilton and Marriott. The company's continued investment in Greenville reflects the strength of the region's manufacturing sector and its ability to support the growth of established businesses.
"This expansion represents an exciting milestone for Edgecombe Furniture as we deepen our roots in Pitt County, enhance our operational capabilities and continue delivering exceptional commercial furnishings to our hospitality partners like Hilton and Marriott," said Mary Walter, Edgecombe Furniture's Chief Financial Officer.
The project is supported by an $80,000 Building Reuse Grant approved by the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) and announced by Governor Josh Stein on October 15, 2026. The funding will support improvements to the company's existing facility, helping Edgecombe Furniture increase its operational capacity, create jobs, and better serve its customers.
The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) managed the project, with Pitt County Economic Development overseeing the Building Reuse Grant. The Pitt County Board of Commissioners approved local support for the project, including a 5% grant match, on October 2, 2026.
"We are pleased that Edgecombe Furniture is committed to growing in Pitt County, and we are committed to supporting them through programs such as the NC Commerce Building Reuse grant," said Kelly Andrews, Pitt County Economic Development Director. "Pitt County, EDPNC, and other economic development partners will continue to seek ways to support their continued success."
Edgecombe Furniture's expansion highlights the continued momentum of Pitt County's manufacturing economy and the importance of supporting existing industries as they invest, innovate, and create new opportunities in the community.
