A $10,000 municipal grant, provided through a partnership between Invest Greenville and Pitt County Government, has helped the Town of Farmville improve the visitor experience, strengthen its historic downtown identity, and support economic growth by installing new wayfinding and historic district signage.
The grant funded a series of wayfinding signs, along with signage recognizing and designating Farmville's historic downtown district. The improvements make it easier for residents and visitors to navigate the community while highlighting the shops, restaurants, cultural attractions, and public spaces that make downtown Farmville a destination. The project also builds upon the town's recent branding and revitalization efforts, helping create a more cohesive and welcoming experience for everyone who visits.
"We are incredibly grateful for the investment provided through the partnership between Invest Greenville and Pitt County Government," said Farmville Mayor Alex Joyner. "These may seem like small changes, but projects like this help create a stronger sense of place, celebrate what makes Farmville unique, and ensure our historic downtown continues to stand out for residents and visitors alike."
Wayfinding signage plays an important role in economic development by helping people confidently explore a community and discover destinations they might not otherwise have visited. Whether visitors are in town for festivals, recreation, library events, or other community activities, the new signage directs them to additional attractions, businesses, and restaurants, encouraging them to spend more time exploring everything Farmville has to offer.
Kelly Andrews, director of Pitt County Economic Development, said projects that improve connectivity and strengthen community identity are valuable investments for municipalities.

Recognizing the downtown district creates a stronger sense of place while celebrating the town's rich history and unique character. Town Commissioner Bobby Evans adds that the new signage will have a lasting impact on the community.
